In keeping with Alabama Governor Kay Ivey’s amended Safer at Home order, Pediatric Physical Therapy is slowly expanding patient care in our clinic. We have always followed strict cleaning and disinfection procedures, but have instituted additional measures in response to COVID-19. We are cleaning and disinfecting more frequently, particularly the high touch areas, requiring all therapists and staff members to wear masks, spacing out the distance between patients who are in the building at the same time, and asking health screening questions of all patients and staff. We ask that families wait in their cars instead of the waiting room, and request that only one adult – and no siblings – enter the building with the child.
We encourage you to restart your child’s therapy plan in our office as your needs and personal circumstances allow. If you would like to continue your child’s therapy but have concerns about coming to our office, be aware that some insurance plans, including Blue Cross Blue Shield and Medicaid, are currently allowing teletherapy visits for physical therapy. Many of our families have begun teletherapy recently and have been pleased with the results. Please call our office at (251) 450-0070 with questions or to make an appointment. We can’t wait to see you all very soon!

We have received word that Blue Cross Blue Shield and Medicaid are now covering teletherapy (physical therapy by video chat, such as FaceTime). If you are interested in continuing your child’s treatment plan using teletherapy, please call our office at (251) 450-0070.

Out of an abundance of caution, Pediatric Physical Therapy is scaling back our clinic schedule, effective today. Patients with acute conditions, such as those with pain or having rapid decline, will continue to be treated as needed either in the clinic or through teletherapy (by phone or video chat, such as FaceTime). New patients may be seen if deemed necessary by a physician. If you would like to continue your child’s therapy, be aware that some insurance is currently allowing teletherapy visits for physical therapy. If you are interested in pursuing this option or if you have questions or concerns about your home exercises, please call our office at (251) 450-0070. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates on our website and Facebook page as conditions evolve.

We are closely following CDC updates on COVID-19, as the health of our patients and families is very important to us. We have always had in place disinfectant cleaning of all mats, toys, and equipment that your children use to prevent the sharing of germs at Pediatric Physical Therapy. However, we will be increasing the cleaning of common touch areas and increasing social distancing. Families are welcome to wait in the car rather than the lobby. Of course, it is essential that your child not come to therapy if you or your child show signs of illness. Pediatric Physical Therapy is OPEN at this time. We will continue to monitor the situation and update you as conditions evolve.
